See the German word, pick the English meaning from four answers. Builds fast recognition.
WRDLRNR is a free German vocabulary game that runs in your browser. You race the clock to match German words with English, sort nouns into der, die and das, and beat a boss for every topic. It covers 2,132 German words from A1 to B2, the CEFR levels used by the Goethe and telc exams.
In the game: Start, pick a mode, then the German world.
Every word has its English meaning, part of speech and topic. A few real examples from each level:
Family, home, food, money and the core verbs.
Feelings, goals and the words for everyday stories.
Opinions, trust, worries and plans for the future.
Research, society and the words of serious conversations.
Three modes: Practice (pick your levels, parts of speech and topics), Arcade (a map of levels with stars and boss fights) and Marathon (one endless run for a high score). Each round uses one of these games:
See the German word, pick the English meaning from four answers. Builds fast recognition.
See the English, pick the German. Harder, and it is what you need when you speak.
Five German words, five English ones. Tap the pairs. Every match slides a new pair in.
der, die or das? Sort German nouns by their article, against the clock. The list has 1,023 nouns: 424 die, 373 der and 226 das.

In Practice and Arcade rounds:
In Arcade Mode every level ends in a boss fight: three hearts, a 7 second timer on every word and a Rage twist for the last 10 words. Word Golem guards the Core levels, the Grab-Bag Goblin guards the mixed levels, and every topic has its own boss.

A word you miss returns within three questions and leads your next round. Spaced review, without the flashcard chore.
Every answer is a quick test of your memory. Retrieval practice like this beats rereading lists.
WRDLRNR keeps every word you have played, worst first, and lets you drill just the ones you keep missing.

The Gender game drills German noun gender on its own. You sort nouns into der, die or das against the clock: 1,023 nouns in all. Every noun in the other games shows its article too, so you learn the word and its gender together.
CEFR A1 to B2: A1 (703 words), A2 (539 words), B1 (731 words) and B2 (159 words). That is 2,132 words. The B2 set is still small, and C1 and C2 are not in the game yet.
